The Township of Hamilton Civil Marriage Solemnization Services
Whether you pledge your love in a community park, community centre, in a historical restored one room school, under a canopy or under the stars, within the Township of Hamilton,
Civil Marriage Service is available.
The Township of Hamilton is pleased to advise that Civil Marriage Solemnization Service is available in the Township. This service provides an alternate to the Justice of the Peace, for applicants who prefer a Marriage Service without religious connotation.
To utilize the Township Civil Marriage Service, you will require a valid Ontario Marriage License, issued within three (3) months of the proposed date of marriage. A license may be obtained at Victoria Hall, 55 King St W., Cobourg or at the Port Hope Municipal Office, 56 Queen Street, Port Hope.
A Pre-Service Interview, with both applicants in attendance, shall occur with the Officiant prior to the Solemnization Service. This meeting is mandatory and will be about one (1) hour in length. During this meeting, arrangements for the service will be reviewed and specific details will be agreed upon.
Civil Marriage ceremonies may take place within the municipality at a venue of your choosing, subject to being approved by the Officiant.
The Council Chambers are available for rental on Friday afternoons between noon and 1:30 pm, subject to availability. If the Council Chambers are used, the grounds are also available for photographs.
Fees: $350.00 for the Civil Marriage Solemnization Service, $100.00 for use of the Council Chambers and grounds (prices do not include H.S.T.).
The Township has contracted Ms. Sandra Bell-Buttars to officiate services.
