2018 Municipal Election - October 22, 2018

Voting is not only a democratic right, it is also the easiest way to have a say in how your community is governed.
When you cast a ballot, you are choosing someone who will represent you.


2018 Voter's Guide for Ontario Municipal and School Board Elections

The Municipal Clerk, as Returning Officer, is responsible for organizing the election for:

Mayor (1)
Deputy Mayor (1)
Councillor (3)
School Board Trustees

In an effort to continue to make voting as accessible as possible, Hamilton Township Council has approved the use of Alternative Voting in the 2018 Municipal Election. Voters have the option in 2018 of voting by touch tone telephone or through online voting on the internet.

Who Can Vote?

A person is entitled to be an elector at an Election held in a municipality, if on Voting Day, October 22, 2018, he or she:

 - is a Canadian citizen,
 - is at least 18 years old,
 - resides in the local municipality, or is the owner or tenant of land in the local municipality, or the spouse, or same-sex 
   partner of such a person;  and

 - is not prohibited from voting pursuant to subsection 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act ,1996 or otherwise, by law.

You can find out if you're on the list of Electors, confirm or update your information, add an elector, or change your school support by visiting www.voterlookup.ca.
This service is provided by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.
 

Voter ID Acceptable Documents

The most common voter ID acceptable documents used are an Ontario Driver's Licence, Ontario Health Card (photo card) and Provincial Photo Card.

Voter Help Centre - Municipal Offices at 8285 Majestic Hills Drive, south of Camborne

A Voter Help Centre will be available to assist electors in the voting process, using a touch-tone telephone or the internet access, provided during both the Advance Voting period and Election Day.
Eligible voters may attend:

1. A Voter Help Centre during the following hours for Advanced Voting:
    10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from October 15 - October 19, 2018.

2. A Voter Help Centre during the following hours on Voting Day:
    10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 22, 2018
