Council

The Township of Hamilton Council consists of the Mayor and four Councillors. Your Council members serve a four-year term, from 2022-2026.

In Ontario, municipal councils must have at least five members, including the Head of Council (Mayor or Reeve). The responsibilities of council are set out in Section 224 of the Municipal Act and include representing the public, setting policies and priorities, determining municipal services, and ensuring accountability, transparency, and financial integrity.

In short, Councillors are responsible for supporting municipal operations while acting in the best interests of both the municipality and its residents.
